Sensational Seasonal Snaps

In winter, you can really capture some beautiful photography shots, but only if you know how to use the season to your full advantage. When it comes to braving the winter weather outside, you need to be prepared. That’s why we’ve gathered some of our best tips to help you make the most of the colder weather.

Dress for the occasion

If you’re going outside and taking pictures during the winter, you’re going to want to be dressed appropriately. Ensure you have warm boots and a good pair of gloves that won’t prevent your fingers from hitting that camera button! We may be far from summer weather, but another top tip is to take a pair of sunglasses as even though it is winter, the sun can still be incredibly bright!

Keep your camera cool

Wrapping your camera up inside your coat may seem like a safety measure, but it certainly isn’t. When you use your camera in the cool weather after it has been held in a warm place, the lens will instantly fog up and create potentially damaging condensation. Aside from damaging your camera, you also don’t want a prime shot being missed because a layer of fog on the lens!

Keep your batteries warm

Now it may sound silly to have your camera cold and your batteries warm, but batteries actually drain faster in cooler temperatures. To help solve this problem, we suggest putting a set of spare batteries into your coat pocket where they will keep warm from your body heat.

Don’t delete

Although it can be tempting to delete images when you’re stood in the field and your memory has reached full capacity, you should always wait until you’ve gotten home to delete them. Images may look bad whilst you’re looking on your camera screen but once they’ve been enlarged and looked at properly, you’ll realise you have some great shots or part of an image can be cropped. Simply take along some extra memory cards if you’re running out of storage space.

Once you’ve captured that stunning shot, don’t forget to get it printed onto a canvas to display in your home. Not only will it make for a great seasonal addition to your walls, but it will also mean that you can show off your talents. Click here to order your canvas today.
